Statement of Intent
The Norfolk YMCA Aquajet Swim Team is a YMCA - based swim club providing an opportunity for the youth of northeast Nebraska to swim. The club offers different memberships to swimmers of ALL skill levels, from those who desire to swim competitively, to a swimmer who is looking to stay in shape.
The Aquajets are committed to providing a caring, friendly, and safe environment for all members so they can participate in swimming in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. The Club is recognized as USA Swimming SafeSport certified, and we work to ensure that all members have the opportunity and support to develop to their fullest potential. The Norfolk Aquajets believe that we all have the responsibility to keep ourselves and others safe while fostering a atmosphere towards the sport of swimming. We strive to teach our members to respect ourselves, others, and the property of others.

Meet our Coaches
David Nelson – Head Coach
Coach David Nelson has been the head coach of the Aquajets Swim Team and Norfolk High School since the fall of 2002. He has extensive experience in competitive swimming. As a nationally ranked age group swimmer in Canada to a 6 time All American at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota, he has witnessed and experienced a lot in the sport of swimming. A 3rd place at the NCAA Division II National Meet in 1999 for USD ranks as his greatest accomplishment as a swimmer on a team.

Sharon Harthoorn - Assistant Coach
Sharon Harthoorn started coaching swimming in 2007 in Malawi, Africa, where her family lived for 9 years. She was head coach for a club team in Malawi from 2009-2013 and coached the Malawi National Swim team for 5 years. Coach Harthoorn has been a coach for the Aquajets since 2014 and is also the Assistant Swim Coach at Norfolk High School.
